Sales Discounting

Set the default discount options to be used.

If allowing settlement discounting, you will be asked to complete Automatically take discount up to ?? days of month end.

What this allows for is when receipting customer payments, discounts will be automatically applied by the system if the payment is received within the number of days specified. If the statement frequency is, monthly discount will be applied if paid within the number of days specified of the invoice date's month end. For a weekly or fortnightly statement frequency, the number of days is from the invoice date.

When using the Receipts screen, the date received is the Date entered. For the Daily Banking screen the date received is the actual date of entering the payments.

Payment Method

Cash

Sale invoices will expect the customer to pay cash and the invoice payment status will be set to Cash and the Payment screen will be called.

On Account

Sale invoices will not expect the customer to pay cash. Any credit limits or stop credit set for the customer will be checked and the Credit Exceeded screen is called.

Short Terms

Sale invoices will set the same invoice payment status as for the Cash payment method. In addition the Credit Exceeded screen is called if there is an outstanding balance from previous invoices.

This payment method type is also used to invoke the inclusion of "Outstanding Balances From Previous Invoices" when printing Invoices. This ensures that the "Balance Due" shown on invoices includes any outstanding balances.
