CPADVAL Courier Post Address Validation

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Address Validation enables you to get the correct address and address layout from the extensive Courier Post address database.

When using the Courier Post despatch system the Suburb and Postcode have to be valid and in designated fields.

Address Validation Web Service

The address validation search takes what was entered into Address Line 1 and searches the database.

(Address Line 2 will be used when T/A Name is used in Address Line 1, see below).

This is completed through the internet and provides you with a range of results in a matter of seconds.

The address will be validated by changing Address Line 1 OR clicking Validate Address.

Example

Below we have entered an in complete address of 115 Quee. TAB off the Address Line 1 field an the address validation search provides us with the results shown below:

Once you have selected the address you want, the address validation will update the correct fields.

CPAddressValidation1

If you entered an address and there was only 1 result the address validation will automatically update the correct fields.

The Fields will be updated as below:

Address Line 1: Street Number, Street Name, Street Type

Address Line 2: Building Name, Floor Number, Unit Type, Unit Value

Address Line 3: Suburb

Address Line 4: Town / City, Post Code

Post Code (New Hidden Field): Post Code

Address Line 1 used as Trading Name

Sometimes you have Customers or Suppliers who have a Trading Name, which is different to the name they have been setup under in Maxim eg. Robert Skellern & Associates Limited - T/A Maxim Software.

In this case you would tick the option "Put T/A Name in Address Line 1" - this tells the address validation search that Address Line 2 is now the field to search.

Here you have 2 options:

1.        Try Again: this will take you back to the address lines where you can enter a different

 address and search again.

2.        Suburb Validation: this is a secondary web service call which allows you to validate the

 Suburb and Post Code.

CPAddressValidation3

If the Suburb Validation search finds one suburb it will update the correct fields, if the Suburb Validation search finds multiple addresses it will display a list for you to select from.

The Fields will be updated as per below:

Address Line 3: Suburb

Address Line 4: Town / City, Post Code
