Pricing is date sensitive based on the Effective Date. The date that is used as the Effective Date is the date the price will be effective. This allows for price changes to be made in advance. For new price changes you should create a new price record with a new Effective Date. You should only change an existing price record prior to the price change being effective.
Pricing for a New Item
The default Effective date will be the current date. Warning - if the Effective date is changed to a date greater than the current date, the pricing record will not be found until the current date equals the pricing record date. A price change record is created.
Price Changes for an Existing Item
• | Select the New Price button. |
• | The Effective date will default to the 15th of the current month if the current date is prior to the 15th, otherwise the date default will be the 15th of the next month. |
Select the required Effective date. The date selected will be active for the current session, ie until you Return to the originating screen.
• | When you move off the date field the price fields will default to the last price record. |
• | Complete the required price changes and return to the previous screen. A price change record is created. |
Repeat these procedures for all multiple prices.
To Create Multiple Price Units For An Item
See Special Pricing Options for further information.
• | Select the Create New Price button. |
• | Change the Sell Price Unit to the required unit. <F5> to select a unit from the list. |
• | Complete the required price changes and return to the previous screen. |
Or Where There Are Existing Price Lines
• | Edit Line Price of the latest price record line for the required price unit. |
• | In the price maintenance screen <F4> to create a new line. |
• | Complete the required price changes and return to the previous screen. |
• | Repeat this process until new price records have been created for the different sell price units. |
Where you have a Sell Price Unit that is different from the Issue Unit, a conversion factor will be required that will convert the quantity sold to the issue unit.
For example:

Not required |
Lion Red |

If the sell price and issue unit combinations have not been established in the unit of measure conversion table you will be asked to complete the required conversion factor.
Moving Average Cost
When a price is created for a new item, the cost becomes the moving average cost for the item. Note that if there have already been transactions for the item, the moving average cost will not be updated even though the moving average cost on the pricing screen is showing zero. If you need to change the moving average cost there are two options:
1. Edit the inventory item, Select the Location and select the Moving Avg Unit Cost button.
2. Change Moving Avg Cost using the Adjust Stock On Hand screen.
